Other music videos...
We also took some inspiration from another A2 music video we watched, we loved a few of the hand held close up shots used, eventhough the rule of thirds were broken the shots are still very interesting due to the brilliant hand held comera work and also makes it very clear that the man is the protagonist and therefoer the most important character, placing him in the middle of the frame helpedd emphasise this.
Inspirational music videos-
We were very inspired by the Maroon 5 Maps video. I personally loved the way they used normal objects as transitions into tthe next scene e.g. in the first scene ata the hospital they zoom into one of the lamps there which then zooms out onto car headlights in the next scene. this music video goes against most of Andrew Goodwin's theories, as according to his theories all music videos falling under the alternative/rock genre should have a balance between performance and narrative. However this music video remains focused on a sole narrative which ,in my opinion, works better s it helps convey the storyline to the audience more clearly, if there had been cuts to performance scenes in the music video it may have made audience feel more detached to the protagonist resulting in felling less empathy for him, making the video less powerful and affective. The video also has symbolism embedded into it foreshadowing unfortunate events, for example in the scene where the protagonist goes to the party, there are close-up shots of bottles of alcohol and the lighting in general is dull and low key, this adheres to Sassure's theory on signifiers.This music video does however, follow Richard Dyer's theory of star quality and creating a star image, which this video does by having several close-ups of the protagonist/ lead singer constantly throughout the music video. In fact the first shot in the music video is a mid/handheld shot of Adam Lavigne in the lift.
Framing
Rule of thirds is a way of making your shots more interesting, there doesn't nessesarily have to be a symmetry in the shot. Its the concept of using an imaginary grid in each frame to compose the shots;

We used this rule to frame majority of our shots in our music video, as it made the shots far more interesting-

Digipack images.....
While filming I took some photographs of the protagonist for the album cover. Nothing is finalised yet this is just one of the ideas I have for the album cover:
Using this image as the front cover, maybe changing the colours on Photoshop to create a colder atmosphere, as she is supposed to have passed away. The band name would be in big bold letters on the top right of the photograph where the leaves are an the album title would go below that.
Use the second image below as the back of the album with our track list, I was thinking of changing this photograph to black and whit and overlaying the painting we wanted to include in out music video over it (by changing it's opacity in Photoshop), as the pathway in this photograph is very similar to the one in the painting and if they match up it might make a more interesting background.

Filming in Trent Park

Filming in Trent park was successful we got lots of footage (hopefully all our footage) and look forward to editing it ASAP.
We choose Trent Park as a location because it conformed to our alternative rock genre, as it was an isolated, remote area with nature and low-key lighting. This was similar to other bands such as Paramore in their music video decode in particular. Even though filming at Trent Park went smoothly the main problem we faced was the weather, because we filmed on a cloudy day (to get low key lighting and cold colouring) we filmed in rain which was inconvenient, nevertheless the footage was still unaffected.
This was the filming schedule we made using Microsoft Excel...
Filming today!
Finally filming today at Trent park, hopefully will get good footage so that we can start editing!!!!
